Join in the fun with this year’s Summer Reading Challenge
We need young people aged 14 plus to help us sign children up to the challenge, talk to children about the books they read over the summer and give them their rewards and prizes for reading, plus there is the opportunity to assist with events if they wish to do so.
All of our Summer Reading Challenge volunteers also get a free goody bag and are guaranteed a fantastic volunteering experience. It’s a chance to make a great contribution to the local community, gain confidence and social skills and get valuable work experience to add to a CV or UCAS form. Hours volunteered can be used towards Duke of Edinburgh, Arts Award, the International Baccalaureate and can form part of the National Citizen Service.
Last year over 9,000 children aged 4 to 12 in Northamptonshire joined the challenge helped on their way by over 100 Summer Reading Challenge volunteers across the county, and this year we are hoping for even more.
The challenge starts on Saturday 15th July and finishes on Saturday 16th September, so we need volunteers who can help any time during this period. The opportunity is completely flexible, whether for the whole summer holidays or a few days or weeks.
