Alcohol

Did you know that drinking three pints of beer in one sitting is classified as binge drinking? Or that your standard one glass of wine every night is considered dangerous drinking?

Alcohol is a big part of our culture and society. It might not seem like you are drinking too much, but even having just one or two drinks most nights can do serious harm to your health, both physically and mentally.

For most people, alcohol is part of a balanced and healthy life. However, it is all too easy to drink too much, and too often.

First for Wellbeing work with STAR (Drug and Alcohol Support) to offer support and advice to anyone that may have concerns, however minor, for themselves or for someone else’s drinking or drug use.

STAR offer a free confidential assessment by a specially trained member of staff who will help you access the right support from the different drug and alcohol agencies available.

To access your free and confidential assessment, just call 0808 169 8512 between 9am and 4:30pm Monday to Friday. Alternatively STAR operates an open access service from 10am – 3pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 12pm – 3pm on Wednesday. During these times you can walk into their service to complete a registration with the next available member of staff.
